If you’re familiar with warehouse operations, you’ll know that inventory management is widely the most important task at hand. Keeping a managed inventory space is keeping not only your workspace clean, but you’re ensuring that everything is in place if/when orders are processed. Sometimes, this is the that’s so mundane and tedious, that nobody wants to do it. We are sitting on the cusp, however, of no longer having to manually record data, due to the influx of smart hardware and software devices. It’s also common that some of the most advanced hardware sits right in our pockets, our smart phones. App-based inventory management is on its way up. Why wouldn’t you hop on board?
Costs are low with Smartphones
Depending on the app, itself, workers might not have to pay much to have it downloaded onto their phones. However, and take our word for it, when it comes to recording and handling such valuable data, sometimes worth going the extra mile and spending the big bucks to receive big quality.
Everyone has a Smartphone!
A smartphone here, a smartphone there, a smartphone everywhere. Everywhere you look, people have their smartphone out and up to their faces. Whether your workplace promotes a Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) methodology in daily operations, or you’re functioning off of a company-owned smartphone, this hardware is accessible almost everywhere you look.
Often times our mobile devices can showcase a lot of strength and durability, sometimes more than the average handheld scanner. You are able to do a lot with these devices, possibly even connect your phone to other software applications on the work floor. Did we mention it’s so easy? Anyone can learn to point and scan with their smart phone, in the blink of an eye.
Machines Above All
When it comes to “hiring” machines to be apart of your workforce, they make the most ideal candidates. They hardly ever make mistakes. If they do run into a bump in the road, it’s likely so because of human error. Since human error is next to impossible to avoid, there are sure to be some errors inputed with app usage. Overall, however, handling small to larger tasks with tracking inventory on app proposes a streamlined approach to organization within the workplace. If you’re able to shave some seconds off of your daily workflow, that’s a win for sure!
