Healthcare is an industry that is never going away as there will always be the need to have and provide quality care. In healthcare, there is a tremendous opportunity to automate the collection of information and the quality of patient care. Automation within the healthcare industry can help to reduce errors and risk in the field, particularly in hospitals where hundreds of thousands of people receive care each day.

In a typical day, nurses spend roughly two to three hours of an eight-hour shift documenting and filling out paperwork. However, with the proper automation technology in place, much of that time that could be spent providing quality care. Using the latest healthcare-grade mobile computers and enterprise scanners, there is an opportunity to streamline the entire process into a much more automated and accountable fashion.

Automation technology and proper use of electronic medical records (EMR) will enable hospital personnel to automatically record stats and receive care instructions throughout shifts. Real information is collected where and when the real work is happening, as opposed to documenting it afterwards. Data can be collected and logged where caregivers are interfacing with patients, where vital statistics are being collected, and where medication is being administered. All of this available data can help medical professionals to more accurately log medication needs, surgery consults and more. The information is then collected and brought back to a central system where it can be analyzed and ultimately acted upon in the correct manner.

In addition to the benefits that occur at the medical personnel level, there are additional benefits that trickle down to the patients. Patients can rest and recuperate more successfully as a result of fewer disturbances occurring from nurses and personnel checking in on monitors and stats. With centralized and automated data, these workers can get real time stats from patients without entering their rooms. Additionally, with the time nurses and personnel save on manual data entry, patients can gain more dedicated time with their healthcare professionals. This can help patients to rest more easily, reassured that they are in good hands. Additionally, there is peace of mind that comes from knowing human error is reduced as much as possible when it comes to their medications and overall health.

For resellers, it is important to take into consideration the overall growing demand for automated healthcare solutions throughout the industry. Resellers can provide these solutions for facilities, which allows the healthcare workers focus on patient care, exceed the legislative mandates put forth, and ensure better patient outcomes overall. In addition there are always technology refresh opportunities for outdated technology. Larger facilities, like hospitals, demand larger rollouts and can provide very profitable deals to VARs who are able to supply them with the right kinds of automation solutions.

Through automation, patients receive better care, healthcare workers receive better and more accurate information, and resellers receive more opportunities to provide these solutions given legislation mandates for EMR’s. Soon, hospitals will all be utilizing these technologies and EMR’s but right now it is a transitional time and resellers have the opportunity to get ahead of this evolving trend and demand.
